from The Newberry Library Catalogue: Anonymous and incomplete holograph manuscript by an 1828-1831 resident of the south eastern region of the United States inhabited by the Cherokee Indians. The author, possibly a missionary, theorizes on the origin of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Choctaw tribes; describes the natural features of the area and the richness of its gold mines; and discusses Cherokee territorial boundaries, population, dwellings, land and property ownership, character, livelihood, women’s status, and dress.
